Scanning — fortnite

Scanning is a Gameplay Mechanic in Fortnite: Battle Royale, Fortnite: Creative, and Fortnite: Ballistic. It was introduced in Chapter 2: Season 2.

Functionality

Scanning allows to see opponents and Containers through several layers of structures. While all scanned opponents are indicated with a specific symbol above them, which varies depending on which kind of an opponent is scanned, some items also highlight the outlines of Containers and opponents.

Trivia

Cold Blooded Suits and their Bosses are marked with the eye symbol when neutral to the player. Their scan symbols change to a triangle and a crown respectively when alerted.
