The Time Machine is a Lore object, a clock shaped device that allows its user to travel to the past and back to the present. It was formerly located in the Inner Sanctum of Eclipsed Estate, guarded by its owner Kado Thorne. Kado Thorne had planned to use it for an unknown sinister plan, but it was stolen by Slone's heist crew and moved to Frenzy Fields. Weeks later, Jones used it to Time Travel back to Chapter 1 and landed in Pleasant Park.
The time machine is powered by a special type of battery called Chrono-Cell, a Rift powered battery.
History
Chapter 4: Season 4
In the cinematic trailer, Kado Thorne used the time machine to travel back to Chapter 2: Season 2 to steal Oro's skull. The time machine used a lot of energy to the point that all the lights in the entire Eclipsed Estate went out. The Heist Crew attempted to heist the time machine for the first time but were repelled by Kado Thorne himself.
During Fortnitemares 2023, Kado Thorne set the date of the time machine to '2018 07 12' in other words Season 5 time period. Slone's heist crew found out that Thorne was planning something sinister with the machine, meaning it wasn't just a normal time travel like the previous times. They then attempted a second heist and finally successfully stole it.
After the heist, the Time Machine could be found at Frenzy Fields. Many items from Season 5 were brought to Asteria near the machine. During the final weeks of Chapter 4: Season 4, the Time Machine disappeared along with the past objects due to Jones Time Traveling.
Chapter 4: Season OG
- Update v27.00: Jones and the Time Machine landed in Chapter 1: Season 5, at Pleasant Park.
- Chapter 1: Season 6: The Time Machine went to Loot Lake due to Jones crashing his truck near the location via slipping on a banana peel while he was on his way to Dusty Diner.
- Update v27.10:
- Chapter 1: Season 7-8: The Time Machine has been brought to Dusty Diner and is being prepared for transportation to the Rocket
- Update v27.11:
- Chapter 1: Season 9-X: The Time Machine is attached to the Rocket for The Big Bang event.
- The Big Bang: It disappeared along with the Rocket after the Zero Point erupted a Big Bang.
Trivia
- Its codename is "TinyMango" and "T_M".
- The time machine's energy resembles the energy of the Rifts.
- Optimus Prime's quote in Chapter 4: Season 3 "The key to your future, lies in the past." was hinting at the Time Machine.
- Thorne had a plan with the machine which put the fate of the Island at stake, however his plan was never revealed and the only clue left was the date fixed on the time machine: 2018 07 12.
- Although allowing time travel, the Time Machine appears to send the Time Travelers to the past of alternate timelines instead of the original timeline. This prevents the events from the original timeline from being rewritten, no matter what the Time Traveler does.
- Thorne's time travels, including cutting off Midas' hand in the past, had no effect on the present-day Midas, who retained his left hand.
- Jones's time travel brought him into a timeline that was completely different from the Season 1 to Season 4 eras, which was before he even arrived. Other events happened differently, such as the arrival of Polar Peak while Jones couldn't have had any influence on them.
- The time periods displayed on the time machine are not relative to the time spent in the lore, but in real life.
- A period of about 100 years or more separates Season 8 from Season 9[1][2], yet the periods referring to Season 5: 2018 07 12 and Awakening Oro (Chapter 2: Season 2): 2020 03 25, are only separated by 4 years.
